We're Eating Solid Foods

Today Caitie had her first taste of solid food, and had a few spoonfuls of rice cereal! At first she looked a little confused but then she ate more and more. Good job Caitie!

Caitie Visits the Museum of Natural History (and the Met and the Whitney)

Caitie recently visited the American Museum of Natural History, the museum with the dinosaurs and space exhibits, with mom, dad and Grandma and Grandpa Chang. She loved it! Her favorite was the Butterfly Conservatory, which has a greenhouse inhabited by live butterflies. She also enjoyed the reptile exhibit, the Mars exhibit and having a snack in the museum's Member's Lounge.

Since mom has some extra time off from work, Caitie also got to visit the Metropolitan Museum, where she enjoyed the Tiffany windows and showed some interest in the Temple of Dendur but then was bored the rest of the time. She also visited the Whitney Museum (modern art) where she seemed to enjoy the Roy Lichtenstein silent films (especially one which featured fish).

Right now, Caitie's absolute favorite museum is the American Museum of Natural History, followed by the MoMA which has lots of moving installations and bright colors and a sculpture garden. The Whitney follows and the Met is in last place because it is too big and has lots of boring things like hieroglyphics, antique furniture, and large handmade rugs (in the Islamic exhibit).

Happy Lunar New Year!

Caitlin celebrated her first Lunar New Year at Grandma and Grandpa Chang's house. She was born in the Year of the Rabbit, but happily welcomes in the Year of the Dragon. For the occasion she donned a traditional qipao, or a silk print dress with a mandarin collar. She also received her first lucky red envelopes!

First Snow

This has been the best winter ever, with average temperatures 30 degrees above normal or more every day in January. But that means not too much snow. Caitie first saw snow last week, when New York City got one measly inch!

Daddy's Princess!

Caitlin LOVES playing with her daddy. No one can make her smile like her daddy does!

Some fun things that Caitlin does with daddy:

1. Baby Bjorn (now facing forward!)
2. Fun rides, such as supergirl (flying in the air), balloon (floating up high), and "rocketwoman" - too complicated to explain but includes a "blast off"
3. Swim class in the tub
4. Watch football
5. Ride on his head
6. Take naps
7. Laugh at his funny faces

Caitlin's First Christmas

Caitlin had a wonderful first Christmas! She spent time with mom and dad, the Changs, the Martins and her new nanny, Joan. She was a very good girl and Santa brought her a mountain of presents!
