Mom and dad took Caitlin to the Central Park Zoo, her very first visit to a zoo, and she LOVED it! Her favorites were Cole the goat at the petting zoo and the flamingoes and parrots in the Tropics exhibit. Dad did a great job of giving Caitlin the best views of all the animals.
Caitlin also got to see her first movie at the zoo. It was a 15 minute short edition of The Polar Express in 4-D, and the movie had all kinds of cool special effects, including strobe lights, fake snow, bubbles and sprays of water. Mom thought she might be scared, but she was not!
We recently spent a long weekend at a funny little resort in the Poconos (hello parenthood), which totally reminded me of the resort in the movie "Dirty Dancing". It was a bit stodgy and but still a nice getaway from the city and we enjoyed the lake and fall foliage. Caitie also enjoyed the change of pace and relaxing in nature, even though the sound of police sirens and taxis honking seems to lull her to sleep.
Caitie recently visited the Museum of Modern Art! The MoMA is within easy walking distance of our apartment, on 53rd Street between 5th & 6th Avenues. We went to see the exhibit of Diego Rivera, the Mexican muralist, but Caitie preferred the moving installations and the sculpture garden. Caitie loved all the colors and light and probably could have spent all day in front of the television exhibit!
We took Caitie out trick or treating in the cutest chick costume that her Aunt Wendy got for her. She was a HUGE hit with her fans and people even stopped to take pictures of her! We got some good loot too - candy, cookies and even a Halloween cupcake! Fireman Daddy helped out by eating lots of candy since Caitie prefers breastmilk.
We're gearing up for Halloween and decided to check out the Halloween Howl (a doggie costume competition) at Carl Schurz Park on East 83rd St the upper east side near the East River. Caitlin had lots of fun checking out the doggies in costume at the park! Mommy let her face forward for a while in the Baby Bjorn (even though she's still really too little), Daddy was tall enough to give her a pretty good view of everything and Grandma took lots of great pictures.
Caitlin is SO excited to wear her own costume on her first Halloween!
Caitlin has been having a lot of fun hanging out with her grandparents. She's so lucky to have them close by! They take her to the park, buy her toys, play with her and spoil her rotten.
Caitlin's Auntie Ashley came for a visit this weekend! Caitlin really enjoyed playing with her aunt and going to Neely's for some Tennessee barbecue.
It was also Caitlin's first time out in the Baby Bjorn this weekend, which was a big hit with her and her daddy!
